We Thought We Knew Him

Have you read Jason Fagone's investigation of Marvin Harrison in GQ? It's stunning.

Re: We Thought We Knew Him

Thanks for recommending this. I admire the voice this is written in. The writer stays utterly true to that voice, rather than slipping into the usual "reporter-in-an-office" voice.

Re: We Thought We Knew Him

Did anyone else get confused when the scene was set a year before the murder, when the fat man was "perforated with bullets," but then the fat man walked away and you didn't find out til 4,000 words later that he got killed the second time he was perforated with bullets? I read that opening four times and just kept getting more confused. Also: The reporter's sudden disclosure that he's a white guy feeling uncomfortable around his black sources and subjects was pretty jarring, I thought.
